My kids, along with about 12 other neighborhood kids, just started an impromptu game of capture the flag which covers at least two yards. The air is filled with the sound of giggling, yelling kids playing together. And in a little while, we'll all yell for our kids that it's bedtime, and they will begin dispersing to their own homes. Playmates on demand. It's the way community used to be, and I'm grateful to have this community for my children to grow up in. It's a nice way to spend a warm Friday night at home.
