All the news that is fit. . .

Or something like that. Just wanted to update on several prayer requests that I don't think I shared here, but this is the easiest place to update multiple folks at once:
*Lynn gave birth to Phineas this morning at 7:43 after a difficult (but not as long as Gid's) delivery complicated both by his face up presentation and her ruptured disc. But both baby and mommy are fine. He's eating well and she's resting. Gid and Ike are here in Chattanooga with Mom so Lynn and Andy can rest. Andy said Lynn did not have any of the panic attacks which have plagued her for the past two weeks, and I think it's neat that not only have many of us been praying about that all week, but as a choir we prayed specifically about it last night around 8, just before she went into labor at 10. It's always cool to watch God work. Andy also said that though the pain in her back became almost unbearable during delivery and the pressure caused her arms and legs to go numb for a while, once the baby was out the pain was greatly relieved.
*Stephen's sleepless two weeks following a mistake in loading a backup tape which resulted in erasing all of the library files ended in God's provision Friday when the miracle we've all been praying for arrived. He "stumbled" across a backup tape from October which contained the files and they worked (several other tapes contained the files but were corrupted). 45,000 books replaced, just like that. He slept much better this weekend, until the pain from an abscessed tooth started getting unbearable. He is now scheduled for a root canal next Friday. Needless to say, this won't go down as the best month of his life. But he has been able to rejoice in watching God's hand through the library ordeal, and has been encouraged by His provision.
*My brother in law, Paul, was taken to the ER yesterday because he was having repeated episodes of sudden increases in his blood pressure. They ran all kinds of heart/blood pressure related tests on him and could find nothing wrong. They told him it was probably just stress, sent him home and told him to try to get an appt with his doc next week. He has had several more episodes this morning, and is trying to get in to see his doc today. Please pray not only for Paul's health, but for the working of the Holy Spirit in Paul's life. Pray that God will use this to help Paul realize his need to surrender his life to the Lord.

And that pretty much wraps it up for now. I'm sure I'll think of something I forgot as soon as I post, but such is life. You can check Andy's blog or Lynn's blog for baby updates. Andy said he hoped to post some pics later today.

Warning

I joined the Y. So consider yourself warned, girls. Six months from now you're going to be jealous of my beefy biceps and tight butt. After all, my only beach trip this year will be in Acapulco, alongside Mandy, who is running her brains out and has no child induced flab and stretch marks. I can't let her make me look too bad, right? Besides, I really want to be able to make the dash across Houston airport without having thoughts of dying.
I haven't worked out in almost two years because of the kids. They did not do well in the nursery at the Y when they were younger, so I always ended up going in the evenings, and not only do I not have the time for that, but I also don't want to always be gone in the evenings when Stephen is home. So I was very nervous yesterday when I dropped J and Noah off at the nursery to work out for the first time. I knew the success of that venture could make or break my swim suit season. I was delighted that both (yes, even Joseph!!) just walked in and started playing happily in the nursery and had a great time. They also started swim lessons yesterday after I worked out and both had a blast. Joseph will probably need to move to a different class soon because he's a much better swimmer than any of the other kids, who are all closer to Noah's age and swimming ability. But for right now I think it's benefitting him just to be in the class. . .having to wait turns, follow directions, etc in addition to giving him opportunities to practice swimming after a winter long hiatus. He basically does everything that the other kids do, but does them without the "bubble" (swim float) that the other kids use. Joseph has always been our "water baby", and if we have a competitive swimmer in our future, he's the one.
We were also pumped to discover that the Y has added a climbing wall to their facilities downstairs in the track room. Joseph and Noah have been begging for me to take them to climb, but I hated to take them to TBA and pay $12 each to have them get tired and bored after 10 min. Between the pool, the track, and the climbing wall, we should have no problem getting them to sleep at night. I'm also grateful that I will have a way of keeping the kids busy next week when they are off school for winter break, rather than letting them spend the day fighting with each other and destroying the house!
