Just for the record

My tailbone is fine, Dad. Every muscle in my body is screaming, "You are over 30 and VERY out of shape!! What were you thinking?!?" But my tailbone is fine. Instead of skiing as I planned, Andy and I both ended up snowboarding with Sam.

I have added videos to the gallery (linked in post below). I have never used Joseph's camera before (he would not loan it to me, but agreed to rent it to me for $5 if I promised to take good care of it and replace it if I ruined it in any way) so the videos are not quite up to par. But the siblings back home can see Sam do his thing on the slopes. Andy, whose tailbone is not okay, may have gotten some of me as well. And I might be upright in some of them. Or maybe not.

Sam took well to snowboarding (better than I expected, actually) and quickly brought his own, well, "Sam-Style" to Bogus Basin. He discovered early on that moving from place to place with a snowboard attached to one foot could be a bit cumbersome and slow, and therefore became remarkably adept at rolling instead. I think he rolled across half of Bogus Basin. Or hopped. Lots of hopping and rolling. Not from me. Mostly skidding, belly sliding (think penguins, only more like a tractor trailer without brakes) and wishing I was in better shape. By the time our day ended at 4 (began with 11 am snowboarding lesson), I literally could not have made another run if I wanted to. My legs were mush, and I was exhausted. But it was fun. Sam could have gone on all night except that his gloves were not very waterproof and his hands were freezing. Andy is in much better shape than I, and he thought he could've done a few more runs, but I feel the need to point out (mostly for Dad's sake) that Andy is currently playing a game with Sam in the floor, but on all fours because he cannot sit comfortably.

Anyway, I'm about ready to head to bed, even though it is relatively early for me even in the eastern time zone. But I'm worn out. Seriously.

Lynn, Andy and Gid are all fighting a cold/flu; Gid is pretty miserable with fever and general yuck. I think tomorrow we will stay low key. If I can make it out of bed at all. . .

Glad you folks are having a great time. Great photos. I don't want to discourage Andy, but I had a great deal of difficulty in Sunday School this morning sitting in the padded but not particularly comfortable chairs for 40 minutes. This is a year after my snowboarding initiation.

Andy seems to be sitting okay today. I'm hoping the rest of my soreness will subside before we head back up to Bogus tomorrow. Andy is working, but Donna is going to take us up, so I'm debating seeing if Donna will teach me to ski instead of snowboarding tomorrow. I'm still debating. . .at this point, I'm torn between building on what I've already started with snowboarding and maybe starting to really get the hang of it, or trying skiing since I won't master either this trip, and that way I know which one I really enjoy more. And Sam has moved on, anyway. He's not going to wait around for me. . .
