Bronze Bow

One day when I haven't spent several hours shopping for school clothes with the boys I'll write a review of The Bronze Bow, a young readers' novel which I think is highly worth reading by everyone, no matter what their age. If I ever get a tattoo, it will be of a bronze bow.

2 Samuel 22
34 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he enables me to stand on the heights.
35 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
36 You give me your shield of victory;
you stoop down to make me great.

2 Corinthians 12
9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

These two verses/passages are powerful verses for me, because they both remind me that it is Christ who accomplishes everything good in my life. He equips me, trains me and empowers me to do whatever it is He has called me to do. I just need to be reminded of that a lot.

I have always thought it would be easier to get a tattoo if it is done with a group of people...all getting the same tattoo. I went away the other weekend with six hallmates from college (the hall was called Catacombs). We had planned to go to the grave site of a friend from college who had died. I was going to try and get them all riled up and say, "If Phil were here he'd get a tattoo." Alas, the hurricane caused us to change our travel plans. Maybe next year...

The tattoo? An anchor cross, which is what the early Christians used in the Catacombs of Rome. Here is an example.

Anchor cross, huh? That's not bad. You know, I hear Joanna Moore would be up for group tatooing. . . I wonder if they offer group rates.
